Course Overview
Western philosophy has evolved - and thrived - over several millennia. Its foundations underpin every aspect of our daily lives, from law to leisure, communication to child-rearing. The Graduate Certificate of Philosophical Studies introduces you to the thinking of some of the greatest minds our culture has known. More importantly, it helps you develop original and insightful thinking of your own - an invaluable asset in a commercial world which places increasing emphasis on the ability to zig when others zag.
The course gives you a strong foundational knowledge of Western philosophy, from its earliest days, through the Age of Enlightenment, to contemporary, cutting-edge ideas. Using these building blocks, you develop universally valuable skills of your own: clear and creative thinking, reasoning and communication.
As the course is designed as an introduction to philosophical topics, no background in philosophical studies is required, but you need to have successfully completed an undergraduate degree or postgraduate diploma to be eligible.
